  • USWF-GACC-CS1240AW is 12x40 mesh Coconut Shell Catalytic Activated Carbon. This carbon is specifically designed to reduce Chloramines and Hydrogen Sulfide more effectively than standard GAC carbon. This carbon can be used with any loose media carbon filtration system. Refillable cartridges, Backwashing filters, and upflow media tanks.
    In properly designed systems this carbon will effectively remove chloramines, hydrogen sulfides, hydrogen peroxides, unwanted taste and orders, chlorine, TCE, PCE, THM's, Phenols, pesticides, herbicides, detergents and more.

    What is Chloramine?

    More and more cities are switching away from regular chlorine disinfection and starting to use chloramines instead. One of the main reasons for this is that chloramine is much more stable in water and it makes it easier to ensure disinfection from the treatment facility all the way to your home. However chloramine's stability also makes it more difficult to filter out of the water that typical chlorine.
    This poses a challenge for home owners because standard carbon filtration is not very effective at filtering chloramines. Catalytic carbon is specifically designed for efficient chloramine filtration so no matter what disinfection chemicals your city uses you can have clean filtered water with no unwanted chemicals.

    What is Catalytic Carbon?

    Catalytic carbon is surface modified in a way that allows it to reduce Chloramine, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Hydrogen Peroxide significantly more effectively than standard activated carbon. But, the process also makes catalytic carbon more effective at filtering all of the same contaminants as regular activated carbon.
